Christina Cipro's decade-long career has volleyed between two very different islands—her homebase of Maui and the bustling isle known as Manhattan. After three years as a stylist in Maui, Cipro decided to make a major move and she pointed her compass to New York where she came to train under Whittemore co-owners Victoria and Larry in the prestigious Bumble and bumble color department. For the past seven years, Cipro has traveled back and forth between those two islands, working on music videos, coloring wigs and contributing to photo shoots for magazines including Allure, Nylon, Cosmopolitan and V. Cipro's approach to color is singular: she finds inspiration in everything from sun-kissed surfer girls to 19th century courtesans to roaring '20s showgirls. Now, she's finally planted roots in Manhattan as the newest colorist at Whittemore House Salon where she is grateful to be surrounded by a talented group capable of, as she likes to say, turning straw into gold.
