California born and bred Jamie Cook started assisting at her local hair salon while she was still a teenager. When she was old enough to enroll in beauty school, she learned the core foundation of geometric scissor cutting at Vidal Sassoon before moving on to Bumble and bumble where she developed a mastery of razor techniques.
Jamie has been a part of the Whittemore House team from the very beginning. In that time, she has grown from a junior stylist to one of the lead educators of the cutting program. A seasoned traveler, Jamie draws inspiration from her own life, one she keeps stocked with passionate people, beautiful clothing, and a never-ending fascination with the world at large. Jamie’s aesthetic is one of natural beauty, as rich and raw as the coast from which she hails. She enjoys creating beachy, wearable styles for her clients. She often works in collaboration with colorist Christina Cipro. The two have traded creative ideas since their days at Bumble and bumble.
Jamie has been a presence backstage at New York Fashion Week since 2006, creating hairstyles for designers Erin Fetherston, Zac Posen, and Karen Walker. Her work has also appeared in Allure, Teen Vogue, Nylon, W, and Italian Vogue. More recently, she has worked on campaigns for Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton. Jamie is happy to have been part of the Whittemore House past, and can’t wait to see what the future holds.
